Six Months

It’s been exactly six months since I landed in Nairobi. It feels like years and years ago. It also feels like it was just yesterday.

There have been moments, like when we got out of the city and explore amazing places like Crescent Island and Mount Kenya, when time stood still. There have been many more moments, as we spent weekends running around figuring out things, when entire days passed in the blink of an eye. It’s been a rollercoaster that way.

I’m hoping the next six months gives us more time to explore Kenya and other places in Africa. I’m hoping to finally do some diving (Watamu, Mafia Island, Zanzibar, Pemba, and Sudan are on the top of my ever-growing list). I’d like some more day and weekend trips. Of course, I also want to get out to the Mara. We’ve been on Safari, but it would be nice to see the other side of the Serengeti (we were in Tanzania when we went).

When I talk about not having seen much and being anxious to see more, people tell me relax because we have lots of time. It’s true. We plan to be here at least four or five years. Yet, six months just flew by in what felt like half a heartbeat.

I want to start taking advantage of being here. It’s time to get serious about exploring. Let the adventures begin!

    • Not odd at all.

It’s worse than in New York. There is some tough traffic at times, but with so much public transportation, and much of it underground, it’s not so bad. Not at a Nairobi level.
