There were some speed bumps along the way (ahem, work permit), but I have finally started working!

So far, it’s going well. I work with a small but growing team of really smart, nice, talented people. The work itself is interesting and challenging. I think I’m going to really enjoy it!

I won’t post much else about it in this post or in future posts. I’m trying to keep the professional side separate. But I can share that it’s a user experience assignment. I’m able to stay in my field and play a strategic role.

Bonus: it’s not far from where we live. I’ll hit traffic at two points, but I can manage it. For the foreseeable future (until I get more comfortable behind the wheel and we get a second car), I’ll keep using a driver.

That has been working pretty well. He lives nearby and takes me to and from the office. During the day he does his own thing and has other customers. It’s a more informal set up than having a driver on staff, which would be overkill for me.

I have to say, it’s kind of nice. I get driven around and get to have pleasant conversation along the way. It’s much easier than schlepping my work bag, lunch, and whatever else on the subway! Dear 6 Train, I do not miss you.

In the meantime, I hope to keep posting on this blog. My goal is to maintain the twice weekly schedule. I also hope to keep my side project going. We’ll see if this is possible, but I promise to do my best.
